My name is Douglas McLean, 4x great grandson of Rev Frederick Dibblee. Please share this announcement with all parish and community members. There are few in the town of Woodstock this will not touch!!
An amazing historical discovery made this weekend for the family of Dibblee and the community of Woodstock, New Brunswick.
Rev Frederick Dibblee was 1st rector and founder of the Anglican Church of Woodstock, New Brunswick. His contribution to his community and the province of New Brunswick are history and very well documented. He was ordained in 1791 and served until his death in 1826.
Frederick's journals are in trust in the museum of New Brunswick and outline daily life and activities in the region dating from 1803 - 1825. BUT they are incomplete. Missing from the record and history are the years 1812, 1813, 1814. Their whereabouts were a mystery … until NOW!
In a couple old boxes entrusted to me by family for the purpose of study and record, I have found this long-lost record! As a family historian, I am beyond excited!
I've contacted the museum of New Brunswick with picture samples, and it is their feeling that these are indeed the items missing from the journal.
In the weeks following I will be scanning them for personal record and sharing, then sending them to the museum curator for donation in the name of my grandmother Nancy Joan McLean (nee Dibblee) and her sister Sally Jane Pengelley (nee Dibblee).
There are thousands more items in these boxes and I can't wait to start … but this one find exceeded all expectations.
